Literacies

How do literacies (plural) affect you professionally? To answer this question, I had to know what those literacies were. Digital, media, cultural, and information, these literacies have a significant impact for each one. The question reminds me of an assignment I completed for one of my other classes relating to standard and nonstandard English. If a person’s choice in writing makes them less intelligent, if they were a nonstandard English writer, the argument is that with having multiple forms of writing, you could have more to discuss being of “code-meshing”. How a broader dialect relates to literacies is the more skills you have, the more you’ll be able to utilize the multiple literacy skills that you have.

In a professional setting, you’ll be able to attack problems correctly because you’ll be able to switch between all the styles. For example, I need to navigate complex technologies when using digital literacy, which requires digital analysis and integrating knowledge from diverse sources. The same thing could be said for cultural literacy, to engage with various topics and inform the historical and social context.

Lastly, information literacy goes hand in hand with digital and cultural literacy because you’ll have to evaluate the credibility and relevance of different sources of information, which is critical. When dealing with digital analysis, you have to know what going on with your work is in order, and when dealing with various amount of platforms going over your work is crucial if you’re using different sources that wrap information literacy to digital and as well as cultural literacy since you don’t want to get any historic facts mixed up.
