Are there various ways of writing?

Elizabeth Wardle’s piece discusses how writing in general isn’t actually a thing and that, regardless of what an author writes, there is always a purpose or topic behind that piece that is to be focused on. Wardle found that writing in general can make it easier for people to write various pieces but, at the end of the day, there is always a medium or point to a written piece. Wardle discusses that writing from prior experiences can strengthen current or future pieces because it provides a base and details but, although past pieces can be helpful, the meaning and purpose of that prior piece will never completely align with new pieces as the purpose and meanings behind the writings have changed.

Whilst Wardle discusses the topic of writing in general, Catherine Savini discusses the importance of welcoming complex tasks, finding a problem, and working on those issues in order to develop a deeper meaning and purpose. Behind her words, it can be found that the main idea is to embrace complexity and allow tough discussions and confusing pieces to become something worth reading or writing about. As she states, it is the job of the student to infer or find a problem and argue that problem in order to motivate the piece and move it forward. One of the biggest points behind her piece was that students should notice problems, articulate and find details behind the problem, create important questions, and identify what is potentially at stake. Ultimately, a piece can be extremely influential and it is up to the writer to carefully analyze their piece, the details, and the research behind it in order to make sure that they are presenting a morally right, accurate, and appropriate message.

Although these two writers didn’t focus on the same exact topics, they both highlight the importance of having a meaning behind writing and finding an important purpose behind the piece that they chose to create. Using prior experiences and writings can also help to further these pieces and allow them to be more in-depth. Writing can be whatever an author wants it to be, it just takes time, dedication, the ability to form complexity, and a purpose behind it all.
