According to the text “Looking for Trouble: Finding Your Way into Writing Assignments” by Catherine Savini we learn that no one really knows how to write or what the right steps are to take to write an assignment. Writing doesn’t just involve summarizing a story; there are a lot more factors involved, such as who’s the audience you’re targeting and what the purpose of this writing is. But the author also gives us, the readers, many pieces of advice, and one that stood out was looking for challenges when writing an assignment. Finding a challenging situation or trouble can help us achieve our goal, making the writing easier for us. Writing can be a task, and I believe studying about writing can help us in many ways and benefit us as we get older. By learning more about writing, it gives our minds the ability to have more space to think creatively and positively about a writing assignment. One thing that I found interesting about the whole idea of identity and learning how to write in new workplaces was that our perception of ourselves can affect the way people make sense of us. It’s important to establish the common professionalism that your workplace has, but it’s also important to earn it because you can possibly use the learned skill and apply it to future writing. Learning new ways of writing can be difficult for a few individuals, but I believe the passages try to give us the message that writing is supposed to be challenging. It is essential for you to find the simple task of writing challenging so you can continue to grow as a better writer the more you practice.
