Social Media influences most of the student population in schools, whether that be Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, etc. In Amicucci’s article, she explains how the same way users of social media compose text and images for their followers, is the same when it comes to writing an essay for an audience. The same process that we go through when creating social media posts isn’t that different from creating an essay. To start, Amicucci brings up intertextuality and interdiscursivity, and these matter because of how other texts and writing affect your work. Intertextuality is when you quote another work directly and interdiscursivity has to do with having a similar format to another writing. Everything I write is built upon ideas and texts that have come before me, so this has to be considered when creating an essay. When creating a post there are hashtags that go along with it letting the viewers know what audience the post is trying to reach out to. The same goes for writing an essay and writing towards a specific audience, using words and phrases that cater to the specific audience. In my opinion, the reason she related social media to writing is because there is a similar process done when creating a post that is necessary when writing, however, creating a post is more effortless for students as opposed to writing an article. If the same effort and passion that kids have when posting on social media were directed toward writing, it would be just as effortless for them
