What on earth are we doing? My thoughts ran by when we came across our next writing piece, a remixed essay, as we read an introduction and strategies for multimodal composing. We came across five strategies that help develop, but first, what is multimodal? Multimodal composition creates texts communicating to a specific audience (often employing digital rhetoric) using various modes or technologies. The five modes were linguistic, visual, spatial, gestural, and aural. Linguistic is a digital text, visual is what we can see in pictures, and spatial is how it’s arranged and organized, which I feel are the three most important. It shows how the informatic/poster can be posted. Throughout the article, I like how they also talk about developing and brainstorming our rhetorical situation. That alone has its steps: the message, the author, the genre, and the medium. I feel like once we have all our ideas down, we can finally create our story. What I personally loved about this, is that it shows the strength and structure in writing. Now you don’t necessarily have to follow it, but it is a guide to help you create. Shows that the world of writing goes beyond words, it’s a field of feeling it’s a field of seeing. It makes me honestly excited even though I feel kinda of lost as to what I’ll be doing. It’s moving from boring long essays, to a flyer, a dance, a video. We get to see our creative expression beyond our words, which will be fun and see the style that we all come up with which will be different from our comfort zone.
