The essay, “An Introduction to and Strategies for Multimodal Composing” by
Melanie Gagich, Gagich introduces the term: Multimodal composing and gives the reader five strategies. Before reading this essay, I did not know what the term multimodal composing was. I really enjoyed the fact that I was not learning new information, in fact, I was able to connect knowledge that I already know and how to apply it properly in my writing. For example, this essay really expanded my ideas on how text can be interpreted to all different kinds of media, not just the text in a paper or assignment. This essay was an important read for the upcoming Remix Assignment because it demonstrates how there is so much more to work from, that there are many choices.

The essay, “Beyond Black on White: Document Design and Formatting in the Writing Classroom” by Michael J. Klein & Kristi L. Shackelford discusses the importance of making the right choices when it comes to design in assignments. I agree with what they were saying in the essay about how important it is to make the right choices with font sizes, colors, the font itself, and more. As mentioned in class, the bar graphs. We had a discussion of what a good bar graph is, what that looks like, and making it appealing to the eye. When I have designed projects or presentations for school, I make sure to pay attention to color, size, font, and the overall design to make sure that it is appealing to the eye and making sure that it looks right overall.
