A jumble of different words in different languages.

Gramma’ or Grammar? Either way you heard what I said.

K. Wiens and Z. Martin drop gems that are informative, essential, and downright grammatically. Two bodies of work that are different in delivery yet informs us on just how important grammar is whether ‘by the book’ or AAVE.

Both reads grabbed my attention from start to finish from their sharp and witty delivery to their blatant intent of how important grammar is throughout all discourses and life in general. I agree with both writers because they’re both informing and persuading us to understand that ‘Bad English’ is simply intolerable for most and that if you fail to pay attention to how you spell, speak, or ‘sound’; you’ll fail to resonate or fully connect with your audience.

Now, I believe that having Wiens and Martin in the same space would be hilarious because Martin believes that AAVE (African American Vernacular English) is not a sub-division of language, but a rich language all its on that is parallel to English. I’m certain Wiens would disagree and shout from his soapbox that ‘Black Language’ is a hot a** mess and should be erased from the Urban & Webster’s dictionary altogether. Why? Welp in the world of academia, I would imagine that AAVE is totally uncouth and should never be used when speaking let alone writing, but…most of the world utilizes this form of language and its minimally accepted because well “it’s black asf” (if you’re clueless to the acronym of asf it’s apart of the emoji/text discourse and can also be found in the urban dictionary, lol. You’re welcome.

Back to our regularly scheduled program, both writers are accurate. For example, as soon as I see a grammatically incorrect word or misusage of punctuation within a social media post; I immediately ignore the remainder of that post and fail to take that person seriously…like ever again. God help them if they own a business and misspell; I super assume their cuisine or business is just as whack and unseasoned as their grammar! I try to exercise leniency, but clearly those folks failed to pay attention in their English language arts classes and will not receive my coins unless they take the time out to grab a dictionary, ask Siri, or correct their grammar in future post.

As Wien states, Good Grammar = Good Credibility and like Martin tells us; if you don’t possess the credibility and build that rapport with your audience-they’ll skate on ya’ becuz’ knowing what you’re talking about is crucial to grabbing, building, and keeping your audience whether you’re writing a rhetoric paper or a rap song!
