When it comes to writing, the work you create could depend on the task/category of the piece. But you should always stay true, to you. Stephen King believes that as a writer you should “First write for yourself, and then worry about the audience”. Writing should be something that you can express yourself freely. It should not feel like a punishment or like your putting on a mask for an audince. I agree with King, however, there are cases where writing tasks will require you to change your style of writing. For example, I am a free/creative writer, but for my college courses it requires more educational and research styled papers. You should stay true to yourself and not try to come off as somebody your not, but you should be able to adapt your personal style to fit any writing requirements.

No matter the style or category of writing, you are telling the reader some type of story. As your writing weather it be an assignment, a diary entry, book review or whatever, you are telling it with a beginning and an end. “Stories aren’t souvenir tee-shirts or Game Boys. Stories are relics, part of an undiscovered pre-existing world” is a quote from King which is a wider view on what a story is. But yes, stories are holders(relics)of what came prior to a piece of writing. I was assigned a research paper, and in my section I started off explaining what my issue was, the methods i will be using, and the results. As I worked throughout the abstract portion, I ended with explaining my testing methods and results were. My research paper is an example of how a story could be told in an intelligent yet poet way. As a writer, you should make your stories good from beginning to end.
