Writing Intentionally

Everyone can agree that all of the rules in writing are what makes writing so stressful sometimes. Most people find it easier to write a journal entry or type something into their phone because when it is personal and there are no rules involved, you are the only person reading what you wrote so writing feels very freeing. I really enjoyed her point of talking about showing, rather than telling your reader what you are talking about so that you are able to get your point across better. Many times when you are not understanding the author’s point, the reading drags and you will either ex out of it or force yourself to get through it. By doing this you still do not have a full idea of what they are talking about so that reading goes to waste. The author used the show and tell method in her own writing which made it my favorite reading so far for this semester. I believe for me personally I learn best by example, so when she was giving her examples they were really resonating with me and helping me to understand her point.

Point number five really kept me interested as well because I feel as though sometimes as writers we don’t want to repeat ourselves but by not repeating and trying to reword our theories it gets even more lost in translation and confusing. By reminding your audience of the same idea but taking different approaches to expressing your point is the most effective way to make someone hear you.
