Collaboration

Failing is a bittersweet thing. I think no matter where you are in life, failure is not always a redirection. Sometimes it is mostly about learning more and less about being capable. Failure is just a sign that there needs to be improvement. I think failing in writing is difficult, especially with all of the new concepts we are learning in class about writing. Writing can be easy if you know what you’re writing for or about. I also think sometimes writing isn’t something to fail in. Something I’ve been thinking about is what we learned at the beginning of the semester about “ There is no correct way to write” That phrase is so interesting because I think everything else is about how not to write, essentially how to fail at writing. Collaboration is a concept I’m interested in learning specifically in my field of writing for television. I always found it difficult to carry the same type of mood as the last writer. In one of my courses, I learned how to work in a small group. One of the projects we had to work on involved collaboration but the professor wanted the paper to be written like it was one person writing the whole paper. There were about 6 people in my group.  Failure and collaboration are easy concepts to work around and to do. I think even the best writer sometimes needs to collaborate and fail every now and again. It keeps them humble and opens the floor to learn more.
