For this blog post today I’ll be specifically talking about what Elizabeth Wardle experienced with trying to communicate with a different discourse community and Her failing and in my opinion what made her fake. Elizabeth Wardle was a new employee who just Got out of college and started working at her job. Stated that she failed because of her lack of authority but Lord I’m going to share a different perspective.
I feel like even if you’re not in to make a different community there’s always a sort of approval problem. Let’s say for example you’re George Lucas the creator of Star Wars, and you talking to a bunch of people who are really into Star Wars, Now you know a lot about Star Wars you’re the person who made it. But you still might have some trouble entering a different discourse community cause that could. It also doesn’t talk about how different people interact.
You may share a lot of common interests, going but you’re still a lot different. That amount of knowledge may even hinder your ability to talk with others in a community. But this is more on a case by case base, The reason I say that is because Even if somebody knows a lot about a discourse community they’re charging That doesn’t mean that there’ll be a right fit for the discourse community Because they could be ostracized at 1st or still ostracize because they weren’t able to make a good 1st impression. So in conclusion authority does matter when going to a new community as it doesn’t mean you’ll fit in
