The Knowledge of Effective Grammar

Grammar has always been a struggle for me throughout the years. Even though I may pass a few of Wiens’ required grammar knowledge, like the difference between their, there, and they’re. Understanding structure when it comes to grammar is complicated for me. I always use Grammarly/autocorrect to ensure my structure is well done when it comes to any piece of writing. Now, as a college student, I do see the problem with that because it shows that even though, according to society’s standards, I may be seen as “smart” because I am pursuing higher education, the fact that I need an AI in order to help fix my grammar I think that may be seen as an issue.

I hope to reach that point in my life where I am able to structure my sentences on my own and I am 100% confident that it is grammatically correct. Because we live in such a technological era where there is such easy access to resources like Grammarly, this generation may not see something like grammar as crucial because we have an easy way to correct errors at our fingertips, unlike our parents who had to ensure they knew grammar because they had to write on pen and paper, and their brains were the primary means of correction. That’s why, even though I do have some knowledge of grammar. I feel as though if I were to be measured by Wiens’ view of correct grammar, I would be humbled very quickly. Knowing grammar helps in ensuring better writing especially professionally.
