Poor Grammar?

I lot of people, like myself, dislike when others use improper grammar. It makes a person seem uneducated. According to Kyle Wiens ,”And, for better or worse, people judge you if you can’t tell the difference between their, there, and they’re.” I agree with Wiens’ statement, although I only think that this is true when a student enters middle school. School curriculum teaches children at a young age how to properly use grammar. “If it takes someone more than 20 years to notice how to properly use “it’s,” then that’s not a learning curve I’m comfortable with.” According to https://writer.com/blog/a-live-grammar-checklist-the-most-common-grammar-mistakes/#:~:text=One%20of%20the%20most%20common,good%20reason%20to%20switch%20tenses, the author believes that the most common mistake when it comes to grammar is using the wrong verb tense.

Something that Wiens wrote really interested me. He said, “I’ve found that people who make fewer mistakes on a grammar test also make fewer mistakes when they are doing something completely unrelated to writing”. It is amazing how grammar relates to competing tasks that have nothing to do with writing whatsoever.

When applying for a job, especially good quality jobs, people look for proper grammar. It tells how a person comes across. The most important quote that Wiens wrote was “I hire people who care about those details. Applicants who don’t think writing is important are likely to think lots of other (important) things also aren’t important. Even when people verbally speak, grammar is also shown.” For example, “aks” instead of “ask”. It just shows immaturity and improper teaching of the English language.
