Difficulties of writing:

In her article titled “Ten Ways to Think about Writing: Metaphoric Musings for College Writing Students,” E. Shelley Reid highlights the challenge of writing and provides a straightforward approach to improving writing skills. Reid’s approach emphasizes the importance of brainstorming and outlining in the writing process, from drafting to revising, to create a clear and coherent structure. Organizing ideas, outlining and brainstorming contributes to the overall structure, clarity, and effectiveness of a piece of writing. Additionally, setting goals and seeking feedback can be useful strategies to improve the writing process. Metaphors can be a powerful tool in writing to convey complex ideas and emotions in a more engaging and relatable way. Different types of metaphors, such as similes, analogies, and personification, can be used effectively in different contexts. Reid suggests using circle verbs, such as analyze, argue, describe, and contrast, and underlining key terms like causes, most important theme, and main idea steps to help with the structure of your writing. It is important to remember that sometimes concise writing that makes sense and is structured well is better than a lengthy but poorly structured piece.

In conclusion,  Reid gave us enhanced my knowledge of writing and how it is a step process. As a college student, I believe that this knowledge will prove to be valuable in my pursuit of writing. I am confident that the strategies outlined in the reading will help me continue my journey of writing and enable me to create great works of literature.
