After reading Literacy, Discourse, and Linguistics: Introduction by James Paul Gee and what I caught from him was how language and communication goes together. When I think of that I would think about two people that would speak different languages. Since it gives us the ability to understand one another, and to communicate with our world. If we go back to what I have said about how will two people communicate if they don’t speak the same language. I would think they would use body language to communicate which does makes sense because literacy can come in different forms. His reading was hard to understand which made me look more on the summary side to see if I can grasp a better understanding.

Becoming Literate in the Information Age: Cultural Ecologies and the Literacies of Technology by Gail E. Hawisher, Cynthia L. Selfe, Brittney Moraski, Melissa Pearson reading was also hard and resulted me to read summaries but from what I am understanding as a main focus was that the use of technology would be a big part on literacy. A connection that I could make on this would be with our Professor. He has stated he was hired because of his connection with technology and to incorporating it into English. It feels right because of how much the times are changing and we are moving away from the origins to the modern day use of technology. Which is helping us become more understanding on literacy, would also give access to others work to find inspiration.
