Why Primary and Secondary discourse is important for human life

Going into last class I had no clue what discourse in literacy meant and the exact details of what it means for humans in everyday life. The primary discourse all of us have is developed at home before we go on and learn from others in society and everything we learn from the outside world becomes a secondary discourse as we choose to learn about certain things within the world.

For me I feel like I started to develop secondary discourses when I entered middle school, middle school was when I started to see different types of people, cultures and how people identify themselves. As I got into college I noticed some of my friends going through a spiritual awakening and raising their vibrations and frequencies so their daily lives can improve. As I became more interested in the discourse they developed I noticed I knew nothing about being spiritual and how we as people control our lives and the way we react to life. I was a complete novice to the subject but wanted to be in a place where I was able to get what this way of life was about. It took a while as a lot of research, conversations and experiences throughout life helped me become literate in that discourse. Thinking about it now I realized that at that time I was developing a second discourse that was going to be beneficial in my life. The primary discourse I learned from home will always be a part of my everyday life but the fact that we can learn secondary discourse makes the human mind and personality more diverse.
