Collaboration or Failures of Success

Collaborative writing brings together diverse voices and expertise, resulting in a richer dynamic of writers. Nancy Allen’s “What Experienced Collaborations Say About Collaborative Writing and Alexus Yeakel’s “Failure is Awesome” both articles explain the growth through the challenging processes. Allen’s study focuses on understanding the collaboration process in writing and how important trust and open communication are to allowing teams to achieve complex writing tasks. She notes that successful writing partnerships are built on mutual respect for each contributor’s strengths and a shared vision for the outcome. Collaborators who have experience discuss the importance of understanding perspectives in collaboration environments. On another note, Yeakel’s article discusses celebrating failure as a powerful learning tool. It encourages resilience, helping individuals learn from their mistakes to approach future challenges with a further developed mindset. When you recognize failure and point that into a positive note in achieving success, Yeakel looks at that as a setback for improvement rather than a definitive obstacle. As you continue to push yourself through its collaborative efforts or resilience, this process will involve challenges and lead to growing outcomes.

Allen and Yeakel both show compelling arguments for the value of persistence. They show that failure is not something you should avoid but accept it as a crucial step of your journey. As a person who used to avoid challenges and be afraid to fail, it inspired me to fight more and keep pushing through even through mistakes. Both authors advocate for a better approach to embrace the differences, complexity, and learning to celebrate the lessons learned through the process.
