Revising Work

Revising is one of the most important parts of writing an essay and is expanded upon in Berkenkotter’s article. There are many different strategies in the revision process, but these are the ones that I was interested in the recursive process. This process is a way of writing that involves moving back and forth through the writing process to analyze the work before and after its being written and published. This involves breaking parts of the essay into smaller parts and handling them individually. When looking deeper into this process, I found out about a process that involves a series of steps that can be interchangeable. Parts of the process include; revising, drafting, editing, invention, and planning. Each of these steps leads to the other, creating a web. Another kind of revision that was brought up is internal revision, which means instead of the author proofreading his work as if he were the audience, he reads it from his own point of view. This allows the author to deeply examine their own ideas and perfect their content. All this type of revision does is force you to critique yourself without worrying about external factors such as grammar. Both kinds of revision I feel will be beneficial for me, and I will try to take the approach within my writing. There are many different ways to improve writing so it’s important to try new processes in order to find the right one for you. The Revision process is the most important.
