I will not lie, I was never the best at editing and revising. There are times when you have to sit there and write a 30-page paper. Writing 5 pages is tiring imagine writing 30 pages. Your brain is just used up at that point and pushed beyond its limits. The only thing that will make you feel better is just turning in the assignment and getting a slice of pizza. Revising is hard and there are people that do not know what a break is and will try to do it in one sitting. In Carol Burkenkotter’s article “The Planning Strategies of a Published writer” Burkenkotter talks about Donald Murray. Murray in the article is known for the way he would go back to his writing. He found more questions and answers. He would use tapes to fix his mistakes making him more aware of what he is doing. This method helped Murray stay on track with his writing.

Revising is extremely important in writing. Not revising sets you up for failure in my opinion. Wouldnt you check if you sent the correct message to your friend? So why wouldn’t you check your writing? Revisiting your assignments can grant you better chances of success. Everyone’s process is different when writing. No one is the same when writing. Some people need space, some people need sound, and some people need noise. Everyone is different. I remember writing in my first year in college. I typed a paper thinking it was A1 and was confident that I won’t have to check it. To be honest I never liked to revisit my work. It was annoying to me and a waste of time. Let’s just say I failed the assignment and the teacher told me to revise. Editing, revising, and checking your work is worth it.
